An Old Lady and a New Blog

Updated: Jul 18

Journey with me as I leap into the world of freelance.

Ok, I am not really an old lady, but this is definitely a new blog. Welcome to the jungle, dear reader.

Yes, I'm starting a blog in 2024. It feels like I am about 20 years behind schedule. Truthfully, I never thought I’d write a blog, but I decided to take a giant leap from my comfortable, boring 9 to 5 job into the unsettled, ever-changing, and beautifully chaotic freelance world.

Copywriting is my gig

Experts in this field continually advocate the use of blogs and newsletters to reach clients & colleagues to build authority and a trustworthy rapport.

Ok, but who wants to read a blog from me? What could I possibly have to say that others would want to read?

This thought plagued me for weeks.

So...

I decided to flip the script and rewrite that thought.

It seems like more and more people are as tired as I am of the 8-hour grind at the office with little personal reward. Working to line the pockets of executives in a boardroom who care more about numbers & spreadsheets than people. I want no part of that circus.

What I want to do is write. Write for you and your business - to keep your audience engaged and your customers returning for more.

I also want to write for myself. Doing something I love, that brings me joy, and allows me to learn with and from others is a dream come true.

So, who would want to read my blog and why?

Hopefully, it's YOU!

And here is my goal: I want to share my experiences honestly and sprinkle the dialogue with tips, tricks, and must-haves (or, have-nots) that offer guidance for businesses, solopreneurs, and other writers.

So, who am I? I'm Kirsten. The face and name behind Copy With KB.

As this is my first post I want to keep things breezy, like the California girl I am.

I know it's important for readers/clients/customers, etc., to feel a sense of connection to the people and companies they choose to support, and I think that's truer than ever in a world filled with so much mistrust.

So, rising above my vulnerability I'll spill the beans on a few personal tidbits so you can begin to acquaint yourself with me.

  1. I grew up in a small town and am still friends with people from elementary school.

  2. I met my husband in 3rd grade (but we didn't start dating until we were in our 20s).

  3. Dogs. Here's mine. He has my heart.

4. The ocean is my absolute favorite place to be.

5. I wish I could pull off red lipstick.

6. Pesto - yes, please.

7. My dad was born in Germany and my mom has been an expat in Mexico for 10 years.

8. I have one sister who is 19 months younger than me.

9. Favorite sport: soccer (Go Quakes!)

10. I am a student of life. I love to learn and I am an excellent pupil.

Well, that's a wrap on blog post #1 for me. I said I was going to keep things light for this first post and I meant it. Short and to the point. I am excited about my journey and hope you'll come along.

And, don't forget to visit my main pages to learn more about my copywriting business.

Cheers!
